$2,499.00 is the price for quad core o_0

In our city building 8 core PC system worth 150 000 RUR
and same config mac costs 140 000 RUR
BUT
simpler configurations of PC's are cheaper than MAC's with same hardware, that is true.

Well,
In home i have PC, in work i have MAC.
The main differences : price and OS. Mac OS > Windows. Price of PC wins over MAC
If You ever said to anybody doing photo retouch/postproduction that MAC screens are good, he would shot you in the head with laughter. Any _serious_ graphic designer/photographer/photo retoucher gets an EIZO at least. And even better than EIZO are barton's screens, but they start @ 5k EU so most guys never heard of that brand. As for why big coproration uses macs - simple answer - support and less threat from hack/virus/bug. And for that only.
Also be aware that 99.9% of 3D rendering engines (Mental Ray, vRay, etc) are optimized for windows, and run up to half the speed slower on Mac OS, so if you plannin on any 3D in Your workflow, you should forget mac.
Same combination of elements for mac is 15-25% more $ than the very same combo for windows.

^honestly, how many people in place you're working can REALLY tell the difference between 3K NEC and 5K EIZO?
I mean if you hide everything but screen without any chance to guess what model it is.
I have my own reasons to ask because we run similar audio test, and no one of "specialists" could tell
difference between high-end sound system and just very good sound system. They were simply guessing.
And BTW, most of them couldn't even tell 320 Kbps mp3 from audio CD. I somehow guessing that after
3K there is so tiny difference between screens so even how many hours you slept before work and what
color of walls in your office will make bigger impact on picture rather than screen itself.
And also I would like to know how much will really cost 2X Xeon PC (8 cores) @ your place. And is it
really 25% cheaper than mac? Because at my place your words are just not true.

I love the looks of mac but I use pc because i'm used to it. At my work we use the mac hd screens with a pc tower, happy days.

mac's are entirely better overall, but depending on what pc as well . . .
Its like comparing Apples and Apples, but one apple is 50 cents and the other is made of fake gold and pleated in fake diamonds to make you feel good alongside coming with a price tag of 100 times the amount of the regular apple. Lesson learned: Just stay with regular apples (PC)... sorry didnt mean to use a pun lol.
Mac: Hey PC, what you doing?
PC: Playing games.
Mac: What games?
PC:...
...
...
All of them.
Mac: ![]()

I really prefer my PC over the MAC. I just feel like i have more freedom with it, and that it runs faster and smoother.
If anyone is looking for a new design computer, i have been reeaaallly happy with my dell studio 17. It runs significantly faster than the MAC desktops at my school, and the big screen is really nice. Its cheaper than the 17 inch mac as well. I paid about $1200
Mac
I heard of some kind of software that lets you run Win in window on Mac, so you can launc your Win only apps there.
Will it be helpfull with 3d apps?
I have a mac! but honestly i can say sometimes macs can be a pain, Imac you cant upgrade hardware if you wanted to except they now sell ram for like 100 for 2 gb on the mac store... and on top of that its sometime just not compatible with other programs if you need another program unless you got bootcamp or something...
so i would take both! lol i have had my mac for 2-3 years now and i havent had any problems except with install software...
other than that hardly any crashes and runs smooth...
imo stick with what your more like
In windows systems, the dimensions of a pixel are wrong. So what you see on your screen is wrong. On a mac, everything has the good dimensions
I also prefer mac because it's much easier to use, everything you need in accessible in less than three clicks !
I'm on the Mac-Team
Mac is the best for any kind of designing!
