An international art collective was tasked with visually recreating their favorite childhood stories. Today, the Slashthree collective is proud to release it's eighteenth exhibition, “Fairy Tales”. The project invited the artists to delve into their fondest childhood memories and recreate the magic they felt when they were whisked off to a land far, far away. Each piece of art in this exhibition is a unique, beautiful interpretation of fairy tales from both popular culture or the contributing artist’s own culture, all of which have come together to create one of our finest exhibitions to date. The collective welcomed the contributions of a number of new artists such as Chris Valentine, Man-Tsun and Nathan Walker to this project, as well as the returns of a few of the collective's veteran members such as Anton Semenov, Roy Bourkel, Zach Bush and Kacper Spala.

Since becoming a member of the Slashthree artist core in October 2010, Rob Shields has been a pillar of consistency both in creating artwork for our exhibitions as well as lending his voice and opinions behind the scenes. Rob’s two incredible submissions to “Fairy Tales” provide evidence for his outstanding growth as an artist since he has joined the collective, and for these as well as his outstanding behind-the-scenes contributions Rob has earned the title of “Featured Artist” for Exhibition 18. You can catch an interview between Rob and Site Director Saad Moosajee by clicking here.

With that, we invite you to immerse yourself in the world of your childhood with Slashthree’s eighteenth exhibition: Fairy Tales.

Thank you,

Quote Unquote Released! http://www.slashthree.com/news/15551/ September 3rd, 2011 2:31 PM Ladies and Gentlemen,
Since New Era's release three months ago, the reception the slashTHREE staff and artists have received for this project has been mind-blowing. It was on show at OFFF 2011, as well as SIGGRAPH 2011 and on our very own online shop. We are proud to report that the “New Era” books have been completely sold out, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for the overwhelming amount of support.
Today however, the collective proudly unveils its seventeenth exhibition, an exhibition in which the artists were asked to reflect on some of the literature that inspires them in their daily lives. Each piece in “Quote Unquote” is based on a quote – famous, cultural, or even from the artist’s own life – and is created to represent that quote and its meaning to the artist. The result is a library of 60 of the collective’s finest and most personally meaningful works to date.
Just before the New Era project was launched, slashTHREE welcomed Tarin Yuangtrakul, a 19 year old artist from Thailand. Tarin’s impact on the collective was instantaneous, and his two submissions to “Quote Unquote” demonstrate the progress he has made as an artist since joining the collective, and showed true dedication to the exhibition. Tarin’s sublime mixture of traditional and digital art was something new which captivated the entire artist core. Tarin Yuangtrakul has become not only the first traditional artist to be named as the “featured artist” for a slashTHREE exhibition, but also the youngest artist in slashTHREE’s history to receive the honour. Site Director Saad Moosajee sat down with Tarin to discuss life and art; you can read the interview here.
There is a number of amazing things coming from SlashTHREE in the second half of 2011, so keep an eye on our home page, as well as our Facebook and Twitter accounts for announcements and updates! For now though, please feast your eyes on Exhibition 17: “Quote Unquote”.
Sincerely,
SlashTHREE Public Relations

Updates since version four http://www.slashthree.com/news/14924/ March 22nd, 2011 4:37 PM ]]> Exhibition 15: Paradigm Shift http://www.slashthree.com/news/14504/ January 8th, 2011 12:30 PM slashTHREE is proud to kick off 2011 with a new visual identity, recruits to our artist core, partners and affiliates and means of exposure. Perhaps the greatest accomplishment of all, however, is our landmark fifteenth exhibition, which embodies the changes that are occurring throughout our collective.
Our artists were encouraged to view the world in a different light, to visualize situations in which core beliefs are shaken, to take artistic aim at styles or moods previously unattempted or simply to imbue new ways of perception. The result? Over 100 finely crafted images, compositions of music and awe-inspiring motionography, which bond together to create our fifteenth exhibition: “Paradigm Shift”.
With this historic release, the collective has chosen to outline the monumental contributions of Roy Bourkel. He has become an integral part of slashTHREE, evidenced by his ten outstanding submissions and consistent positive attitude all the while battling a serious medical condition.  We cannot thank Roy enough for his dedication and are honored to have him as a senior member of the slashTHREE family.  You can read Saad Moosajee's interview with Roy here.
The new look of slashTHREE.com is the first in a myriad of exciting new projects we'll be releasing through the coming months. Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates. For now, however, we invite you to feast your eyes on “Paradigm Shift”.
Enjoy!
