Hell no metal is doing our kids well listen to some KoRn or Marilyn Manson and you will see what I mean when you see a kid that listens to country they are always depressed but the kid that listens to metal is enjoying him/herself.  The other reason is you go to a metal concert and look at everyone, then go look at the kids that went to a country or rap concert(but don’t go to the crap or country concert because you will die or boredom.)  The only reason that metal is bad is because people have categorized metal as the source for violence, suicide, self corruption, death, and drugs. The real cause for the all that stuff I mentioned before is rap the retards that get paid for saying nothing but “o look at all the money I got I do nothing but sit on my ass all day long and I get paid just like if I actually did something but retards at the records pay me” I think if we get rid of rap everything will be fine, but that will never happen cause of all the dumbasses in the world.


If metal was corrupting our kids then country is killing cows and bulls. Rap is the cause of all of the killing cause of retarded dumbass wanta be gangsters.  Give a retard a gun and a dude that can D.J. and they become millionaires and start “rapping” about the money they have and the other retarded shit they come up with buying.  The real people responsible for most of the kid’s deaths and suicides are the retards and giving them a pay check.  But hey don’t listen to me cause I’m just a dumb kid that doesn’t know what he’s talking about but if you get rid of rap watch what happens, you make those retards a job and look they function in society (that is if they can figure out hey there are no hand outs in life.)  That and this was a statement that metal isn’t corrupting our kids, now it is a rant on what rap does and what I think of it.

Well most people who listen to metal aren't exactly happy people, or successful in terms of living a good life with a good job.
I'm not saying all people are like that, just most that I have met/saw. Seems like it here atleast.
It feels the genre isn't sending happy/good messages to our brains.
I do listen to metal sometimes, but it's not my favourite genre.

It's kind of funny when you start comparing rap to metal. It's pretty obvious that you're biased towards this subject.
I'm not saying this because I'm a rap fan. I hardly even like rap, especially mainstream rap. Cool rhymes and shit isn't enough for me to like to listen to. They don't even sing, and just some repetitive/cheap beat in the background. Sorry for going off topic there, just thought I should say it. :p

I agree with your sentiments on rap. however, metal is an extremely vague genre to talk about. there's rock metal, prog metal, heavy metal, death metal, and so on. progressive metal is the only good metal. can't prove otherwise to me that's because the rest is just... lyrics slapped on paper with musical notation slapped on paper that is just shit imo.

I try to be open minded about music.  like this diversity.

where i come from the people who listen to metal are depressed and self-loathing (not exactly what i would call happy, maybe thats where we are not on the same page) and don't really try to learn anything in school as it is just easier to skate on through. whereas most of the people who listen to country out here are either hard working people who are generally happier (maybe because all of the songs aren't about killing other people?) and a vast portion of these people have made a few $$$ from doing professional rodeos or close to it. or heres a novel concept, they worked really hard for a long time and now they have alot of money.

so you're saying that rap is some magical evil tone that gets into its' listener's brain and turns them evil, therefore the only solution would be to get rid of rap music as a whole thus making everything "fine". define what "fine" means where you come from.

country songs are basically stirctly and rigidly about reality. out of the people who listen to rap, how many do you think 'be trappin'? or defending their 'hood'. why do people act like this is important? rap music takes no talent, no creativity. I take that back, some have decent rhymes, and some make very good points in their songs, but far and few between.

Neither Korn or Marilyn Manson are metal...The mainstream bands you hear on the radio or see on hoodies aren't metal, they tend to be metalcore or nu-metal, metalcore being the result of hardcore punk mixed with the basics of heavy metal and nu-metal being metal that used rap or djing elements.

To the other poster, Tool is primarily prog rock, though I suppose it does contain elements of metal in its vaguest sense.

Also, branding all other forms of metal as crap is extremely ignorant, considering most genres of metal contain either folk melodies or classical structures.

The general mainstream of "metal" ; korn slipknot avenged sevenfold and other shit like that, is not metal. By any stretch of the imagination.

if you believe rap causes problems like that, then the same thing could be said for metal.
