This one is a lot darker, and the moon is now gone.

This one is tweaked a little darker, trying to make the moon fit into the image more.
Were the lighter colors better? (I left the original as a link up top).
And now the moon is gone from one. Dark with moon no better?

The moon doesn't look blended with the other elements in the piece that may be why many people aren't feeling it, myself personally I don't like the monotone look the tree, earth, clouds and galaxy share.

nice work! have you thought about reducing the moons size and making it closer to the left side of the earth since that is where the brightest light source is coming from and the moon's shadow is on the left side? and you could maybe have some of the strands of lights go around it.

I think the moon is not necessary, but it gives an nice effect..
I love the tree...
But v2 is too colorfull.
Just hold it by v1,
