fairly new need some HELP

hey im fairly new to photoshop and need some help pulling my ideas off but the first thing
ive really wanted to learn how to create abstracts like this

Hey mate!

The brush-pack you describe was probably created using some kind of fractal-generation software - you can find the definition and some images created using fractal-based software over at wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fractal

The two most common softwares are Apophysis ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/apophysis/ ), which is a freeware fractal-editor and UltraFractal ( http://www.ultrafractal.com/ ), which is a commercial solution.

Once you have set up a satisfying fractal-flame, you can render it to a format that supports transparency (this makes extracting the background easier) and open it in Photoshop for further processing.

On a side-note: There are also other possibilities to create generative art - a totally different approach is Processing ( http://processing.org/ ) which blends programming with a visual context.
