Is WoW a good game to buy?

I was wondering if World of Warcraft is a good game.  I want to get peoples opinions on if I should buy it.

Ya every keeps telling me to buy WoW or Oblivion.  But WoW is really expensive considering you pay SO much a month.  Then theres Oblivion that is like just $30 because its one of those "Platinum Hits"
