converting to smart object/rasterize, save and close ps, after that all layers FOREVER gone

Was editing layers beneath the "apply image" layer and couldn't figure out why nothing was happening.
Smudging like crazy on a large file and crashing my computer ![]()

merge layers to save to print, but then saving over the psd as a one layer psd

This sucks! I would be either using the poly lasso tool or the pen tool and rendering out something when i would accidentally double click only being half way done....and it selects a big diagonal line from the start point to the finish point.
At work we call this the 'photoshop phantom figure of eight' and just about everyone i know has experienced thsi when they were starting out. lol
To accidentally open Ai or C4D while working on a huge 300dpi file.
not creating the document with the right dpi settings.
