Inspired by the song Hero of war by Rise Against

Any tips on improving?

Hi!
First I love the atmosphere. The colours tone and the model pose tell stories. I think that the typo isn't necessary. You can put more "war" visual instead of writing it, maybe more destruction, blood, death, chopper, soldiers, dictators... Because the only thing that shows war is the gun. "Hero" is another good visual theme (medal, duty, etc...) finally I'll say that this can be the base of the visual and you can put many thing and details to have a wonderful and rich artwork. (sorry for my bad english) big_smile

I think it would make more of an epic impact if the horizon line were lower, and as ltr said, having some other form of action take place.

looks great though@

New image won't load.

I'd blur the BG out just  a little, looks a litle sharp on the eye + it would add some depth.

Edit:
Alright, it loaded up.
Some really nice additions I must say.
Although the color could be a little softer, but it's good overall.

there should be a litttle bit of shadow beneath him and the gun.. just try drawing an appropriate shape and gaussian blurring it.. normally helps my images a lot smile

i would adjust the light so it's more saturated towards the top, and gradate it going down the image, and add a harsher shadow behind the guy and his gun, looking a lot better though
