Keeping css external? What are the benefits of this?

This was my first time coding a site from the ground up so i'm still learning alot as i go =p

Simple, but nice.

Its really an advantage to keep the css external. If you have for example 3 pages with the same style classes and you want to change one property, you have to do this in every document. If you have an external css file, you just have to edit this one time.

the overlay on the art pieces when you mouse over is really slow because it loads another image each time. i would suggest using javascript and some hidden overlaying divs with text to speed all this up by huge amounts.
