Remember 5 mins 3d sketches so popular 10-15 years ago? Gerry's game and similar? Well "9" neither aestetically, not in terms of storytelling went very far from them. This woken up 3d character looking at his hand and smiling - my God, what for? Seen it billion times and not ready to see once again. Story is boring, you can predict most parts in first 10 minutes, and this is because whole movie should be 5-10 min, not +1 hour.
"9" created of cliches from beginning (Carolina, anyone?) to the very end. Every part of "9" you seen before.
Comparing to godlike Carolina (for a designer's eye it was whole celebration) "9" is below medicore shit.
IMO of course, but NOT RECOMMENDED.
p.s. District 9 = AWESOME!
Self-irony at very beginning makes great contrast with actions in second half. Great direction, no, just brilliant.
I don't understand how any of this applies except for the second to last line... but I totally agree about District 9 being awesome
